FREAKING AMAZING! ~ BIZARRAMENTE GENIAL!

first stop: civil rights museum. although the main idea is, obviously, talk about the legacy of the civil rights on the United States... that's not what happened. most of their expositions talk about the guy who killed Martin Luther King Jr.. when I say "most", I mean much more about the murderer than the victim itself. but anyway: it's really interesting. they expose details about little things that we normally don't think about when a leader or a public figure die. | primeira parada: civil rights museum. embora a ideia central seja, obviamete, falar sobre o legado dos direitos civis nos Estados Unidos... não é isso que acontece. a maioria das exposições falam do cara que matou Martin Luther King Jr.. quando eu digo "a maioria", eu digo muito mais sobre o assassino do que sobre a vítima. mas enfim: foi muito interessante. eles expõem detalhes que a gente nem imagina.

that city is beautiful, for sure. | essa cidade é linda, com certeza. 

they have a trolley that pass on the middle of the city, as a way of cheap public transportation or, in my case, as one more turista adventure. I do enjoyed seeing the city during the day and observe their streets. actually I really felt in a movie, but without wind in my hair. just loved it. | eles tem um "trenzinho" (tradução falha) que passa no meio da cidade, como uma maneira de transporte público barato ou, no meu caso, mais uma aventura de turista. adorei ver a cidade durante o dia e observar as ruas. realmente me senti num filme, mas sem o vento nos meus cabelos (curtos no momento compridos demais).

arcade restaurant! beautifully old-fashioned and well decorated. just loved it, too. I saw the little corner where Elvis Presley usually sat on his "not-that-glory days" and I was sure that I was in an awesome place. I had American food for lunch, watching a weird report at Fox News on TV and than we went home (uncle Patrick's home). for sure a cultural experience. | arcade restaurant! lindamente retrô e bem decorado. adorei, também. vi a esquininha onde o Elvis normalmente sentava em seus "não-tão-gloriosos dias" e tive certeza que aquele lugar era maravilhoso. tive um almoço americano, assistindo a uma reportagem estranha na Fox New na TV e fomos pra casa (casa do tio Patrick).

cheguei. | i got here.
na verdade não tão de repente. depois de um vôo cansativo, longo, com 5 pessoas insuportáveis (só que ao contrário) a minha volta. Nas chegamos e tudo aqui é maravilhoso. Estou pensando em maneiras de descrever, ainda. De qualquer forma, esse post é só pra registrar que cheguei. Breve terei novidades melhor elaboradas pra mostrar o que tem se passado nesse momento com tanta novidade pra mim. | actually it was bit that suddenly. it was after a tiring and long flight, with 5 stressing people around me (kidding). We got here que everything seem to be awesome. I'm still thinking about how will I describe it, still. Anyway, this post is just to register that I arrived. Soon I will have news well writted to show to you whst have been happening in this brand new experience for me.

UFRGSMUNDI

And again, during November 23rd until 25th, I had the pleasure to join another Model United Nations made by UFRGS - Rio Grande do Sul Federal University, but this time not beeing a trainee. UFRGSMUNDI is a MUN made by graduation students for high schoolers, who discuss issues internationaly importants during three days. | E novamente, durante os dias 23 a 25 de Novembro, eu tive o prazer de participar de outro Modelo das Nações Unidas feito pela UFRGS - Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, mas dessa vez não como estagiária. UFRGSMUNDI é um MUN feito por estudantes de graduação para alunos de ensino médio, que discutem assuntos internacionalmente inportantes durante três dias.

this time I represented Cuba in a commitee called Rio+20, which is an international conference that discuss sustentable development and green economies. the topic we discussed was food insecurity concerning issues like pesticides, sexism, sustentable development and lots of things that I'd never imagine that would make some difference in this subject. | desta vez eu representei Cuba no comitê chamado Rio+20, que é uma conferência internacional que discute desenvolvimento sustentável e economias verdes. o tópico discutido foi a insegurança alimentar, considerando aspectos como agrotóxicos, sexismos, desenvolvimento sustentável e várias outras coisas que eu jamais imaginaria que faria alguma diferença nesse assunto.

we accorded a resolution in the end of the last day which established some interesting agreements to help countries that have been having difficulties to end hungry and developed themselves in a green and appropriate way concerning what we already know about out own world. | nós acordamos uma resolução no final do último dia que estabeleceu alguns acordos interessantes entre os países que têm tido dificuldades para acabar com a fome e se desenvolver de uma maneira verde e apropriada de acordo com o que nós já sabemos sobre nosso próprio planeta.

another amazing thing that happened in this model is that I was awarded with an Honorable Mention by the chairpersons of my comitee. it's amazing when your effort to something is recognized by who teach you. I'm really thankful and already missing this amazing event. | outra coisa maravilhosa que aconteceu durante esse modelo foi que eu fui agraciada com uma Menção Honrosa pelos diretores do meu comitê. é maravilhoso quando o teu esforço para algo é reconhecido por quem te ensina. estou muito, muito agradecida e já com saudades desse evento maravilhoso.

X UFRGSMUN

and finally, after an year of waiting, XUFRGSMUN happened. the Model United Nations from UFRGS - the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul - with all glamour, diplomacy and glitter was in October 31st and November 1st - 4th. as a club of International Relations studies of my school, me and my classmates joined the staff as trainees (or, as they call, little slaves) in the middle of a bunch of graduation students from law and international relations from lots of different universities of Brazil. | e finalmente, depois de um ano de espera, o XUFRGSMUN aconteceu. o Modelo das Nações Unidas da UFRGS - a Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul - com glamour, diplomacia e glitter foi nos dias 31 de Outubro e 1 a 4 de Novembro. como o clube de Relações Internacionais do meu colégio, eu e meus colegas participamos do staff como estagiários (ou, como eles nos chamam, pequenos escravos) em meio a graduandos de direito e relações internacionais de várias faculdades do Brasil.

half-holiday

september 7th, independence day: a holiday which i wake up at 6 am in the morning to put my uniform and march for my country. | dia da independência: o feriado em que eu acordo às 6 da manhã para colocar meu uniforme e marchar pelo meu país. 

actually, since last year, i've been only photographing the parede. i wear the same uniforme, go to the parede's street by the same bus, but i follow my classmates holding my camera and photographing what i think i have to. in the end of the day, i usually have for about a thousand photos to analyse and send to my teachers and friends at school. | na verdade, desde o ano passado, eu tenho fotografado o desfile. eu uso o mesmo uniforme, vou a rua do desfile no mesmo ônibus, mas sigo meus colegas segurando minha câmera e fotografando o que eu acho que eu devo. no final do dia, eu normalmente tenho mais ou menos mil fotos pra analisar e enviar pros meus professores e amigos do colégio. 

so, as i'm in the military school, we have to be at school at 7am, already wearing our uniform (white and cleand as it has to be). at for about 7:30am, after listen to some speeches and blablablas of some military chiefs, we go to Loureiro da Silva street by bys. we stay there until the "mayor" of the state, a "general" and the militaries that follows their both passes. only after all these cerimonies, we start march, at for about 10am, until 12pm, when we come back to school (still marching) to have lunch and go back home to enjoy a half-holiday. | então, como estou no colégio militar, tenho que estar no colégio às 7 da manhã, já vestindo nosso uniforme (branco e limpo, como deve ser). mais ou menos às 7h30, depois de ouvir alguns discursos e blablablas de alguns militares que são nossos comandantes, vamos até a rua Loureiro da Silva de ônibus. ficamos lá até o governador, um general e os militares que seguem ambos passarem. depois dessas cerimônias, começamos a marchar mais ou menos às 10h, até às 12h, quando voltamos para a escola (ainda marchando) para almoçar e aproveitar um meio-feriado. 

Brasília and diplomacy

i started this month travelling to Brasília, with 21 friends of mine, to practice something that seems to be simple: diplomacy. but be sure that it's not. we went there to joy a conference that is called III MUNDOCM, which is organized by Colégio Militar de Brasília. | eu comecei o mês viajando pra Brasília, com 21 amigos meus, para praticar algo que parece simples: a diplomacia. mas tenha certeza de que não é bem assim. nós fomos para lá para participar de uma conferência chamada III MUNDOCM, que é organizada pelo Colégio Militar de Brasília.

there, each one of us represented a country on debates with an international problem to deal. we have to defeat the internacional policy of the countries that we were representing. here we call it Model United Nations, or simply MUN, and it's probably the kind of event that i most like to participate and study for here, in my school. this time i represented Russia in the United Nations Security Council, with Coutinho (that both is my classmate at school), and it was amazing. i learned a lot not just about Russia, but about the region of the Western Sahara (because of the topic of the discussion) and the other international representatives (actually my friends) and their positions. | lá, cada um de nós representou um país em debates com um problema de âmbito internacional para lidar.

nós temos que defender a política internacional dos países os quais representamos. aqui chamamos este tipo de evento de Modelo das Nações Unidas, ou simplesmente MUN, e este provavelmente é o tipo de evento que eu mais gosto de participar e estudar para aqui, na minha escola. dessa vez representei a Rússia no Conselho de Segurança das Nações Unidas, com o Coutinho (que também é meu colega no colégio), e foi maravilhoso. aprendi muito não só sobre a Rùssia, mas sobre a região do Saara Ocidental (por causa do tópico da discussão) e sobre os outros representantes internacionais (na verdade mais colegas) e suas posições.

pizza, snooker and lovely people

i think that there isn't a better way to define this meeting. | acho que não tem jeito melhor pra definir essa reunião.

we just decided to meet. two weeks before the meeting, everything was matched. it was a sunday, at César's house, with pizza, tv, snooker, some photos and lovely people. need nothing more. in this mood, we sketched something about our t-shirt, as you can see in one of the photos above, but we're still working on it. | nós só decidimos nos encontrar. duas semanas antes da reunião, tudo já estava combinado. foi num sábado, na casa do César, com pizza, tv, sinuca, umas fotos e gente amada. não preciso de mais nada. nesse clima, nós rabiscamos alguma coisa sobre a nossa camiseta, como tu podes ver em uma das fotos aqui de cima, mas nós ainda estamos trabalhando nisso.
